چکیده

We present a nonlinear model predictive framework for closedloop control of two-phase flows governed by the Cahn-Hilliard NavierStokes system. We adapt the concept for instantaneous control from [6, 12, 16] to construct distributed closed-loop control strategies for twophase flows. It is well known that distributed instantaneous control is able to stabilize the Burger’s equation [16] and also the Navier-Stokes system [6, 12]. In the present work we provide numerical investigations which indicate that distributed instantaneous control also is well suited to stabilize the Cahn-Hilliard Navier-Stokes system.

Model Predictive Control of Variable Density Multiphase Flows Governed by Diffuse Interface Models ?

We present a nonlinear model predictive framework for closed-loop control of twophase flows governed by Cahn-Hilliard Navier-Stokes system with variable density. The control goal consists in achieving a prescribed concentration distribution in the Cahn-Hilliard part through distributed and/or boundary control of the flow part. Special emphasis is taken on quick control responses which are achie...

Hamburger Beiträge zur Angewandten Mathematik

We consider a simplified accoustic model to describe nonlinear phenomena occuring in loudspeakers. The simplification is that we restrict to the one–dimensional isentropic Euler equations in a slab, where on the right end a membrane is moving periodically with frequency ω and maximal displacement ε œ 1. The asymptotic model based on the small parameter ε yields hyperbolic first order systems, w...

Uniquely solvable and energy stable decoupled numerical schemes for the Cahn-Hilliard-Stokes-Darcy system for two-phase flows in karstic geometry

We propose and analyze two novel decoupled numerical schemes for solving the Cahn-HilliardStokes-Darcy (CHSD) model for two-phase flows in karstic geometry. In the first numerical scheme, we explore a fractional step method (operator splitting) to decouple the phase-field (Cahn-Hilliard equation) from the velocity field (Stokes-Darcy fluid equations). To further decouple the Stokes-Darcy system...

Convergence analysis and error estimates for a second order accurate finite element method for the Cahn-Hilliard-Navier-Stokes system

In this paper, we present a novel second order in time mixed finite element scheme for the Cahn-Hilliard-Navier-Stokes equations with matched densities. The scheme combines a standard second order Crank-Nicholson method for the Navier-Stokes equations and a modification to the Crank-Nicholson method for the Cahn-Hilliard equation. In particular, a second order Adams-Bashforth extrapolation and ...
